講義の概要	The students of this course will (1) acquire the fundamental skills to read English without Japanese translation, (2) get the basic skills to understand oral English, (3) learn to write about their own ideas, and (4) make a speech about them in front of the audience.
到達目標	The aim of this course is to acquire the fundamental skills of reading, listening, writing and speaking: the last one includes making a public speech based on the memorization of their own writing and it should be done in front of a certain group of people.

履修上の注意	英語以外の外国語科目と同時開講される科目です。15名くらいが限度です。授業はほとんど英語で行われます。予習レポート提出、英文レポート提出、受講者全員の前でのスピーチもあります。

評価方法及び合格基準	Evaluation is based on Assignment A (25%), Assignment B (25%) and Assignment C (50%). When you do not submit any one of Assignment A or B, you lose 10 points for each and as for Assignment C you lose 50 points for each, and the speech is evaluated in six levels. The grade is fixed at the end of each term. The passing grade is 60 or over.
学生への メッセージ	The students are expected to read the assignments before class. Learning a foreign language is fun, and using it is more fun and exciting. You will be surprised at yourselves having confidence to use English after this course.
