Message from the President

National College of Technology forms an important part of the Japanese higher education system. As of April 2011, there are 51 National Colleges of Technology throughout Japan, offering 5 year regular courses (leading to Associate Bachelor's Degree) and 2 year advanced courses (leading to Bachelor's Degree) in various disciplines in technology.

Ibaraki National College of Technology was established in 1964 and is located in Ibaraki Prefecture about 100 kilometers north from Tokyo. The College offers five regular courses, including Mechanical and Systems Engineering, Electrical & Electronic Systems Engineering, Electronics & Control Engineering, Electronic & Computer Engineering, and Chemistry & Material Engineering. The College also offers one advanced course in Systems Engineering. As of April 2011, the College has 78 academic staff and about 1,200 students with 10 overseas students from various countries. The College has comfortable dormitories within the campus. In addition to regular course works, our students actively participate in various activities, including Robot Contest as well as Programming Contest.

Our National College of Technology also plays a vital role in contributing local community, in particular promoting joint research programs with industry, since the College is located close to the birth-place of world-famous high tech company, Hitachi.
